The very fact that Christ, to save us, had to suffer the penalty of man’s transgression is a mighty argument that God’s law is changeless. It also tells us that God is all merciful and self-denying; and that infinite justice and mercy are foundational principles of His government. Thus, to be citizens of His Kingdom, we must love and obey all Ten Commandments of His law. We must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. The Spirit is His character, and the Truth includes the afore mentioned fact. But one who has Truth without the right Spirit is unmerciful and unlovely. And those who claim to have the Spirit, while denying the Truth, is dishonest. Only by loving Truth and receiving His Spirit of patient obedience may we be blessed with the character of Christ – the Fruit of the Spirit.
