Why is it so easy to gain weight and so hard to lose it? Because in youth we did not learn self-control, we ate thoughtlessly in those growing years when fat burns fastest; but as we age and growing cease we continue to eat in the same uncontrolled manner and sit a lot longer. Just one of the tricks this life of sin plays on us; now it’s time to fight back with the “self-control” found only in the Fruit of the Spirit!

Money cannot buy it, intellect cannot procure it, wisdom cannot attain to it; and you can never hope, by your own efforts, to secure it. But God offers it to you free of charge as a gift; yes, “without money and without price.” Isaiah 55:1.

A Literal Week!

Did you know that the seven-day weekly cycle originated at creation? It was God Himself who measured off the first week and set the stage for all successive weeks. This seven-day cycle has been preserved and brought down to us through Bible history. The creation week, like every other, consisted of seven literal days. Six days were employed in the work of creation, but upon the seventh, God rested, and He then blessed this day and set it apart as a day of rest for man. Therefore, as long as the weekly cycle remains, so too does the seventh-day Sabbath…enjoy it and be refreshed physically and spiritually!

A Double Celebration!

It’s a double blessing to have two pivotal days meet and kiss together on this July day. The Fact of Life!

The very fact that Christ, to save us, had to suffer the penalty of man’s transgression is a mighty argument that God’s law is changeless. It also tells us that God is all merciful and self-denying; and that infinite justice and mercy are foundational principles of His government. Thus, to be citizens of His Kingdom, we must love and obey all Ten Commandments of His law. We must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. The Spirit is His character, and the Truth includes the afore mentioned fact. But one who has Truth without the right Spirit is unmerciful and unlovely. And those who claim to have the Spirit, while denying the Truth, is dishonest. Only by loving Truth and receiving His Spirit of patient obedience may we be blessed with the character of Christ – the Fruit of the Spirit.

Search with All Your Heart

God’s promise is, “Ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13. God wants to heal and set us free, but this requires a complete transformation of the nature or character. To this end, we must yield our will and desires wholly to Him. Yes, the whole heart must be yielded to God, or the complete change will never take place – not even when Jesus comes. The truth is, in giving ourselves to God, we must give up all that would separate us from Him. Are you willing to yield up your will to God or will you continue to have your own way?

The Meaning of Life
